Chargeasap’s Omega: the World’s First & smallest 100W & 200W GaN USB-C Charger smashes funding goal on Kickstarter

Sydney based consumer electronics brand, Chargeasap, known for its incredibly successful crowdfunding campaigns including Flash Graphene Powerbank, Infinity Magnetic cables and X-Connect cables is celebrating smashing its crowdfunding goal for its Omega GaN chargers on Kickstarter with almost $1,000,000 raised of its $10,000 goal with 23 days still remaining.

And there’s good reason for the hype.

I was lucky enough to receive the 200W option a couple of weeks ago and have been testing it out on my various devices. Now, I have today that I was trepidatious on this because I’ve tried several different fast chargers in the past and they all had one of two major problems… or both. They didn’t actually charge anything faster or they wouldn’t work with my Apple products. So, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Omega GaN 200W Chargeasap had neither of those issues.

My iPad has a generic charging cable and usually takes upwards of 4 hours to completely charge but with the Omega, it gets done in less than half the time. The Omega chargers utilise the industry-leading Navitas GaNFast NV6127 Power IC which miniaturise silicon components found in traditional chargers. Gallium Nitride (GaN) is a semiconductor material that replaces traditional silicon-based power adapters allowing higher efficiency, less heat and the ability to handle a higher current. GaN IC’s are over 10 times smaller than traditional IC’s, a major advancement in the electronics field.

The 200W is capable of charging four devices at the same time and the rewards for Omega 200W are $75/£60 with full RRP being $149/£118. It is available in, black, white, navy & gold and the campaign runs until October 10th with shipping expected to start January 2021.

The Omega Charger is proud to be a pioneer in being the world’s first 2nd generation GaN Charger solving issues found commonly in 1st generation GaN chargers including overheating and the lack of accurate intelligent power distribution. By not limiting the USB-C port when the USB-A port is used, it is easy to confuse the charger which is why many competitor brand users have experienced many issues with their charger not working to their expectations.

The Omega 200W and 100W chargers are the smallest chargers available on the market (66% smaller than traditional chargers) and the world’s first portable 200W charger to quick charge a laptop (MacBook Pro), a tablet (iPad Pro), smartphone (iPhone), and mobile device (AirPods, Watch) all at the same time.

With 2 x 100W Dual USB-C Power Delivery 3.0, a single Omega 200W charger can power 2 laptops (16″ MacBook Pro) simultaneously, and at full speed. This is a game changer in charger technology making it the first portable charger that can output 200W. The Omega Charger USB-A ports are compatible with a wide range of devices that support Quick Charge 3.0, AFC, VOOC, SCP, FCP almost all major fast charging protocols in the market from all major brands including Samsung, Huawei, Oppo, Vivo and OnePlus up to 22.5W.
