“Xbox Event” Domain Registered; Is the Next Xbox Upon Us?

XboxEvent.com is registered

A newly registered domain name suggests that Microsoft might be getting ready to announce the successor to its Xbox 360 console. According to WHOIS data, Domain name XboxEvent.com has been registered by the company U.S. Techs recently. U.S. Techs has been re-branded to Eventcore recently and it provides advanced, customized solutions in the event management industry.

Xbox 720 might just be around the corner

We have reports that the folks at U.S. Techs also registered XboxE312.com, the site used for signing up for Microsoft’s press conference last year at E3, and it also registered Microsoft’s 2013 hosting summit site (which also includes the text clearly saying that ‘this site is hosted for Microsoft by U.S. techs’) at the bottom of the site.

Xbox 720 vs PS4: Who will Triumph?

At this moment in time, we have no clear idea what XboxEvent.com will be used for or what its actual purpose is; but we’ve recently seen Sony’s dedicated PS4 conference to reveal the PS4, so this could be a hint that Microsoft is getting ready for it’s own dedicated Xbox event to announce the next iteration of its Xbox console soon.

According to reports from a few credible sources, April seems like the most likely time frame for the event. Although, one Microsoft spokesperson said that:

Microsoft usually acquires a couple of domain names for its ongoing business strategy, but beyond that we have no comment.

This may or may not be true, but they didn’t deny it either so let’s keep our fingers crossed. All we can do is hope Microsoft matches or outshines the PS4 event, though that’s a difficult feat to achieve. However, all of this is just an assumption and there are no official words on this matter yet, but we’ll keep you updated as we hear anything.

What would you like to see in the next Xbox console? Let us know.
