Top Four Anticipated PS4, XBOX ONE and Wii U Games This Fall

Slim Pickings This Summer, But….

Have no fear, this fall and winter there are games galore being released for the new generation of game consoles! So, yes, you have to wait to get your hands on these beauties but its always good to have something to work towards, to idolize and fantasize about. So, without further ado here are the top four games to look forward to for the Wii U, Playstation 4 and Xbox One.

Most Anticipated  Wii U Games

Number 4 – Captain Toad Treasure Tracker

I know what your thinking: “This game looks so cheesy!! Why would you pick this?” Well, a Mario-themed puzzle-platformer has a lot of potential here. Lots of people play games like Candy Crush and Bejeweled, games where you have to use your head to get past obstacles. Helping Toad navigate various mazes and levels has potential to be challenging, and with that comes satisfying, as well as fun for people of all ages. Either way, this looks like a fun game that is coming out sometime in the fall/winter this year.

Number 3 – Bayonetta

Bayonetta 2 looks like it might just be able to top the original game’s giant boss fights, combat etc. This is something that can sometimes be quite the challenge for a sequel to accomplish. The fights look more hectic and ridiculously-jaw dropping, the story seems interesting (Bayonetta is traveling into hell itself!!!) and the game itself looks just gorgeous. Even better the game will come with a ported version of the original for the Wii U, so you get double the Bayonetta action in October 2014!!

Number 2 – Hyrule Warriors

I have to admit Hyrule Warriors looks amazing and the inner Zelda fan can’t help but be excited for this game. Finally Zelda is able to fight alongside Link, Impa and, my personal favorite inclusion, Midna! There are all kinds of characters, new and old, featured in this game all fighting it out! Here’s to hoping that the story can match the epic fights and attacks that have been previewed so far! Hyrule Warriors comes out swinging on September 26th (Sept. 19th in Europe).

Number 1 – Super Smash Bros.

You all knew I had to put this at number one, right? This is a franchise beloved by all, where all of Nintendo’s stars line up and fight to be number one. This game has a mix of classics fighters like Mario, Link and Kirby as well as new challengers such as Pac-Man, Megaman and Rosalina! Many are wondering who will make the roster of SSB and can’t wait to find out, myself included! Sadly wait we must until October 3rd for the 3DS version and Winter 2014 for the Wii U.

All right, one down and two to go! We move from the Wii U to the Playstation 4 and XBOX ONE. Surprisingly the number four slot for both PS4 and XBOX ONE are the same, which is kind of cheating but the game in question was one I was lucky enough to be able to play the alpha for, which really won me over-

Most Anticipated XBOX One Games

Number 4 – Destiny

Having played the PS4 Alpha version of this game, I will say that this game looks gorgeous and is fun to play! Before participating in the Alpha, I was unsure about this game, it was on my radar but hadn’t won me over. After one weekend, I was sold: the leveling system, the hub world, the dystopian Earth that the player can explore was beautiful, dangerous and all kinds of fun! Destiny hits stores September 9th, so be wary and prepared!

Moving right along, next is the top three XBOX ONE games that are in the works!

Number 3 – Halo

You can’t really talk about the XBOX without mentioning the iconic Halo series. Finally this series has been revamped and ported to the XBOX ONE. at E3, Microsoft focused on showing off that even though they updated certain parts of the Halo collection, they still retained what made it great in the first place. Seems like all of the sci-fi shoots are being re-vamped (Mass Effect, anyone?). Safe to say, this is definitely something to look forward to when it is released on November 11th.

Number 2 – Sunset Overdrive

Sunset Overdrive is a giant ball of craziness, comedy and insane acrobatics. This game focuses on a nameless Fizzco employee surviving a Zombie infestation (which was caused by OD’ing on Fizzco’s new energy drink, a unique cause for a zombie apocalypse). This third-person action game finds hilarious and clever ways to kick all kinds of zombie butt. Definitely something to keep an eye out for when it hit shelves on October 28th.

Number 1 –

When I saw this trailer, my eyes were glued to the screen. The visuals, the music, everything just fascinated me. Reminding me heavily of the gorgeous Journey, Ori and the Blind Forest looks like a masterpiece come to life. Moon Studios states that this game is said to be a coming of age story and has been influenced by Ghibli/Miyazaki, Legend of Zelda and Metroid. If the game is inspired by such wonderful soures, it gives me hope that this game will blow gamers away this Fall.

Most Anticipated PS4 Games:

Number 3 – Bloodborne

Bloodborne-listing-thumb-01-ps4-us-05jun14

Coming out, possibly, early next year, Bloodborne is set in the town of Yharnam, which is full of dangers. Some of these dangers are undead looking dogs and the citizens of the dismal looking city. This game is all about the horror and action, which isn’t surprising at it is being directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki (the of Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls). With Miyazaki behind the wheel and from has been released Bloodborne looks like a game that will keep the player on the edge of their seat.

Number 2 – Deep Down

Wow, now that’s a gorgeous looking title (pushsquare.com).

There hasn’t been much word or information released recently about Deep Down, however it is supposed to be released sometime this year. Little is known about Capcom’s dungeon-crawling game. The story is supposed to be the player’s character traveling back in time, where apparently there are dragons and all kinds of nasty beasties found underground. Sounds a little hokey, but fantasy and dungeon crawling sounds fun and the visuals and gameplay that has been released looks beautiful.

Number 1 – The Order: 1886

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hxz8IWWzt8]

The Order: 1886 looks gorgeous during gameplay and cutscenes and the story mashes a steam-punk style London with werewolves and other supernatural creatures. In other words, seems like a recipe for success for this PS4 exclusive, however that isn’t guaranteed, but all the signs point to a decent game, be it gameplay, plot or characters. The Order: 1886 comes to stores in February.

As you can see, a lot of fantastic games are just on the horizon, so have hope gamers of all ages! Amazing games are on the way!

One Comment

  1. The ps4’s line up is weak… well it’s not even 1 year old. The wii U on the other hand will get some killer games this year. No one can compete with them. Let’s hope 2015 will be just as good. I think it will, xenoblade, zelda an possibly star fox will be out in 2015.
