New ‘Switch’ Ad Sums up Console in Kind of an Icky Way

The launch of the Switch is just over a month away, and there’s already plenty of hype. That didn’t stop Nintendo from finding new (and kind of icky) ways to show us why we must have its new console in an ad on its German Facebook page.

The ad actually does a decent job of summing up a few of the Switch’s most intriguing qualities, it’s portability being number one. It probably crossed some people’s minds that they would no longer have to set down their precious game to do their necessary “business.” Not sure we actually needed the visual provided in the ad, but it’s fun to see Nintendo can laugh about the less glamorous take on its console. Plus there’s neat clips showing off its ability to allow 8 players to play locally and of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

So if you were on the fence about purchasing the Switch, maybe this…interesting ad pushed you one way or the other. Of course, if you have decided to get one, good luck getting it the day it launches. Nintendo has notoriously made it difficult in the past to get their consoles, and preorders for the Switch sold out within a few days. Even the Pro controller, a $70 accessory, sold out after a meager 30 minutes on Amazon.

Don’t lose heart, though. You could get lucky if you check in with retailers often to see if they got any additional stock or if you’re willing to wait in line on the release date. If not, perhaps you can make do with a preorder for a launch game, like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Not having the accompanying system on March 3 might be a little depressing, but at least you’ll be ready when you finally get your hands on one.
