Home Decor: Your Geeky Home

Home is where the heart is, sure, but it’s also where you showcase your collection of all things geek that you’ve built throughout your lifetime. A shelf for figurines here, and a glass case for movie props there. Showing off our toys is important, but how about the rest of your place? Do you have average, normal light switches or a single cup to keep your toothbrush upright? Don’t sweat it. Here are a few ideas to spread your geek over every square foot of your home.

The Bathroom

Honestly, if you’re looking to turn your bathroom into a TARDIS replica, there are enough items online to do so ten times over. But there are other cool products out there for those not looking to do so.

Towel
Think Geek’s Star Trek Towels

ThinkGeek.com supplies many geek-life options to decorate your chamber. If you’ve ever wondered why you didn’t own a science blue Star Trek bath towel, today is your lucky day.

Showergel
Think Geek’s Blood Bath Shower Gel

Or maybe your days battling zombies have left you a little weak and you’re in need of a blood transfusion, aka some red shower gel in a blood bag. Never thought about it? Sometimes we don’t realize that we just have to have something until it is presented to us.

Like maybe a periodic table shower curtain.

The Kitchen

Some of the coolest geek gadgets can be found online in the “kitchen” category, as you can imagine. There are tons of utensils stuffed in drawers and containers sitting on counters, why not make them fun and expressive?

Ctrl
Mod Cloth’s Shortcut Bottle Opener

For the computer lover in all of us is this fun little nugget from ModCloth.com. Sure to impress friends and partygoers alike, this bottle opener promises to Ctrl-O all that you desire. When it comes to beverages, at least. I wouldn’t recommend using this for doors, try Alohomora for that.

R2d2
Think Geek’s R2D2 Soy Sauce Dispenser

Soy sauce has a way of making everything more delicious, and having it on hand is a must in my kitchen. The combination of this magical condiment and the world of Star Wars is just perfect, and the idea of having R2D2 at your dinner table makes it even better. Better than perfect. Impressive.

This item I have actually purchased simply because of how truly awesome it is. Either in the kitchen or outside at the grill, this apron will get you through the heat of battle. With pockets galore and hardcore protection, you’ll be ready for any cooking scenario with this MOLLE inspired kitchen’wear’.

The Living Room

You can also express your geekiness by designing your living room. Besides, the possibilities for geeky home décor ideas are limitless. So, if you’re planning to decorate your home with your geeky vibe, you can paint the walls with chalkboard paint. These paint materials can transform your living space into an area where you can express your inner geek through post-inspirational quotes and other intellectual creations.

If painting isn’t your thing, you can also decorate your living space by hanging posters. For instance, you can display movie and TV posters that show your geek side. Whether it’s a beautiful landscape poster or a portrait of an iconic person, you can create a geeky living room without any hassle.

On the other hand, there are different ways to design a geeky home. For instance, you can add a river wood table to beautify your living room. You can use it as a conference table or a side table. Additionally, adding a river wood table is a good idea since you can create it independently. All you have to do is use epoxy resin for table top, and you’d be able to come up with a custom table that allows your inner geek side to shine.

However, if you’re making a river table for the first time, you may check some online tutorials and other reliable resources to get more information.

Anywhere You Need It

If you feel the most at home in your lab, a movie theater, or anywhere else really, be sure to bring little bits of comfort into the space you spend the rest of your time.

Deskorg
Mod Cloth’s Lab Desk Organizer

Maybe the sight of test tubes warms your insiders, or maybe you just need something to keep your paper clips in. Either way, these babies are what you’re looking for. They bring a sense of whimsy to your desk while still saying “Don’t mess with me. I know science and I’m not afraid to use it.”

Light
Think Geek’s Arcade Light Switch

Possibly one of the coolest things I’ve seen online is this arcade inspired Power Up Light Switch from Think Geek. Make lighting up a room fun with this neat gadget. You’ll feel the nostalgia every time you leave home, and visitors will become green with envy.

I definitely recommend checking out these websites, and others as well, for more ways to geek up your place, your friend’s house, or even your parent’s kitchen. Who knows, they might appreciate a little R2 in their day.
