Straight on the heels of the official first look at Robert Pattinson as Batman, several unofficial photos from the set of The Batman hit the Internet yesterday. While it’s a stuntman in the cowl, we do get a better look at the new suit and even a glance at a Batcycle, though a video on Twitter indicates that they may need a better stuntman.
Catwoman: Can you come over?
Batman: Naw, fighting the Joker
Catwoman: I stole a diamond

More to Come
Of course I’m still withholding judgement, at least until we see more of Pattinson suited up, but the video was definitely a cringe moment for me. I know it will have special effects added and of course the crash isn’t likely a part of the scene, but it really felt almost cosplayish to me. It didn’t feel like Batman.
Hopefully this isn’t like the time I watched the pre special effects stolen copy of Wolverine: Origins. I thought for sure it would be better once hit hit the theaters and we all know how that turned out.
It’s no secret that I’m a huge Batman fan, so of course I’m looking forward to seeing what they put together. Especially coming on the heels of the epic Joker. I was worried about Keaton as Batman and initially questioned the decisions for Ledger and Phoenix as Joker, and all of those turned out beyond excellent.
So, perhaps there’s hope for Pattinson and The Batman, because right now I am still super trepidatious. With a June 2021 release date, there’s still a lot that we don’t know and of course we’re destined to see a lot more “official” releases from the set.
The Rogues Gallery
I’m really looking forward to seeing how they transform Paul Dano into the Riddler but I’m having a hard time envisioning Colin Farrell as the Penguin, so it will be interesting to see what angle they’ll take. Zoë Kravitz taking over as Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman, is definitely a treat many of us are looking forward to, but of course for me, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth is the one I’m looking forward to most.
As The Batman is reportedly going to focus more on the “detective” side of Bruce/Batman, I have to wonder if we’re going to see the badass commando/tactician Alfred we’ve always wanted to see on the big screen. Surely Serkis won’t be relegated to fetching sandwiches and patching up Bruce after scraping with Selina.
In case you missed it, here’s the official first glimpse of Pattinson suited up in The Batman.
