What’s Your View on the Mazda MX-5 Miata ?

The beauty of the marketplace is that you can have flair and style without spending a fortune. This is true across the board, even for your automotive choice.

The Mazda MX-5 Miata is one compelling automotive choice and with good reason.

Let’s find out more about the Mazda MX-5 Miata.

What You Need to Know about the Mazda MX-5 Miata

Sports car enthusiasts will appreciate that the Mazda MX-5 Miata harkens to a different era. An era where sports cars were light, compact, and nimble. You didn’t genuinely need a significant portion of horsepower in the sports vehicle, but you did need these other characteristics.

This intimate and cozy sports car is right in line with the driver and feels just right for sports enthusiasts everywhere.

But why?

The Mazda brand has been able to iterate and improve it’s vehicles over two decades now. Yes, decades, the Mazda MX-5 Miata is a line that has been around since 1989. That gives it ample time to present the best options and stay competitive while sticking to its foundational principles.

The Core Mazda Principle Present in the Mazda MX-5 Miata and other Mazda Vehicles

One of the more compelling principles that Mazda espouses is that of Jinba-Ittai. The simple idea with Jinba-Ittai is that there’s a feeling that the sense of oneness between a rider and his beloved horse is the ultimate bond.”

That idea may seem strange in these times where we’ve automated everything and use automobiles for transport instead of horses or elephants. But that simple idea translates into a seamless experience.

The Mazda brand wanted to replicate this experience in their vehicles, and they did it by tinkering and experimenting.

Tetsu Kasahara, a key individual in the manufacturing process, summed up the final process and knew that they finally achieved what they wanted by saying “there was a moment when I was driving that I suddenly no longer felt the existence of the car. I thought this is it.”

As noted above, while other manufacturers have strayed from the genuine lightweight sports cars, Mazda has retained these original characteristics that create Jinba-Ittai.

The original creators of the first-generation MX-5 had different complexities. They were not able to use comparables to achieve what they wanted. Instead, they sought to feel their way through to their goals. That is why the company’s key persons would test the car daily at the Miyoshi Proving Ground, fine-tuning the car until it was perfect.

Mazda’s goal is to emphasize fun and happiness via the convertible experience over a focus on speed. If there’s no sense of oneness between the car, driver, and road, it’s likely not a Mazda MX-5 Miata.

Enthusiasts love the car because it makes them feel great every single time they drive it. It doesn’t give you everything. It does have a personality and the right elements to present exhilarating experiences regularly.
