The next generation Asus Nexus 7 seems to have leaked online, in style – with photos, specifications, and even pricing.

Google’s Nexus 7 tablet was launched last year, and achieved considerable commercial success. It sold between 4.5-6 million units in 2012, and a newer, improved version has been rumored to be launching for months. Now, AndroidCentral claims to have gotten its hands on what may be a prototype of this soon to be launched device. Here are all the stats rounded up for you:

Specifications:

Labelled the ME571K_PR1_SKU2, the Asus tablet features a 7 inch LCD screen. The resolution however, gets bumped up from 1280 x 800 to 1920 x 1200. According to the leak, it is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 Pro processor on a Qualcomm APQ8064 motherboard. Given that the FCC received a S4 Pro-running tablet last month, this specification might just be accurate.

A surprising specification is that of the RAM. The device with AndroidCentral is said to have an astonishing 4 Gigabytes of RAM. With such a large figure, it would be safe to assume this is incorrect. The Nexus 7 might actually feature a 2GB RAM, which should be adequate for the device.

In a move that would be welcome by many users – the tablet may finally get a rear-facing camera. The leak describes a 5 megapixel camera on the back of the device. The front-facing camera meanwhile, will remain a 1.2 megapixel shooter.

In another first, this Nexus 7 is also shown to be having two speakers – one near the USB port (at the bottom), and the other on the rear. As for the hardware buttons – the power and volume adjustment buttons are at the same position on this device as the earlier Nexus 7. The MicroUSB slot is situated at the bottom edge of the tablet.

The leaked Nexus 7 is running on Android 4.3 Jellybean, an upcoming, unreleased version of Android that has had its share of leaks in the past as well – on a Nexus 4 and on a Galaxy S4. However, there are chances it might just ship with Android 4.2.2 and get an update soon enough.

Nexus 7 Pricing:

AndroidCentral is also claiming to have obtained information on the pricing of this next generation Nexus 7 tablet. According to the leak, the 16 GB model should retail for $229 while the 32 GB model will be available for $269. This is higher than the current Nexus 7 – which begins at $199 for the 16 GB model. It also contradicts with earlier reports of Google launching the Nexus 7 at a cheaper price than the current model. In such a scenario, the current Nexus 7 was supposed to drop to around $149.

Google has announced an event for the 24th of July, and is widely expected to be launching this very tablet right there, along with the Android 4.3 announcement as well. We’ll bring you more on the Nexus 7 (and Android 4.3) as soon as we receive more information.
