Top Selling Books of 2021

The year 2021 has seen book sales skyrocket, perhaps due to the new lockdown norm or additional rich content from the gifted authors. The books discussed below form the top echelon of the best-sellers mainly due to enormous following and insights. 

Dog Man: Mothering Heights

The 10th Dog Man installment topped the best sellers’ list shortly after its March release. Mothering Heights is the latest in the Dog Man series debuted in 2016, written by author and cartoonist, Dav Pilkey. It features a dog cop who leads a team to keep the city safe. Last year all the Dog Man books exceeded the 3.8 million copies sale, making about 13% of all comic book sales. So far, the Mothering Heights series has sold more than 2.5 million copies.  

American Marxism

This Mark R. Levin’s edition is currently the best seller on Amazon and the runners-up in our list for this year. In American Marxism, Levin rallies the American people to stand for their families, traditions, liberty, and constitution that he claims face a destructive counterrevolution. The book was released in July and has already surpassed 2 million-copy sales in over 200 territories. 

The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, and the Horse

Charlie Mackesy offers hope and inspiration through a beautiful tale of a curious boy, a wary fox, a greedy mole, and a wise horse. The four find themselves in challenging terrains sharing their thoughts and experiences regarding hope, love, friendship, kindness, and vulnerability. The conversation between the characters provides rich life lessons for all readers. The book has more than 1.7 million sales so far and continues to attract an audience globally. 

Oh, the Places You’ll Go!

This is yet another kids’ book from Dr. Seuss. The book has turned out to be a perfect gift for anyone seeking to celebrate a special milestone in their life. Dr. Seuss uses his trademark whimsical illustrations and humorous verses to inspire his audience on addressing life’s achievements and challenges. The illustrations offer perfect inspiration that encourage readers no matter their current situation. This year saw a relative increase in book copies than ever since the book was released in 1990. So far, the author has sold more than 1.5 million print copies. 

The Four Winds

Kristin Hannah’s The Four Winds was the top-selling adult title in the first quarter of this year, and its more than 1.2 million copies sold to make it the fifth-biggest best-seller overall. The Four Winds is a powerful epic set during the Great Depression, focusing on hope and heroism. 

Atomic Habits

As the name suggests, this book provides practical strategies to help you form good habits, break the bad ones, and master the trend that leads to greatness. James Clear is a leading expert in habit formation and is famous for his unique ability to distill complex topics into clear guidelines that you can apply in your life. So far, Atomic Habits has sold about 1 million copies globally, making it the sixth best-selling book this year. 

The Four Agreements

Although this book was published more than two decades ago, 2021 has been the year it has made significant sales totaling  to about 800,000 copies. The best-selling author, Don Miguel Ruiz, uses The Four Agreements to explore self-limiting beliefs that cause needless suffering and rob us of joy. The book is based on the ancient Toltec wisdom offering a specific code of conduct that Ruiz believes can transform our lives and bolster joy and happiness.
