The highly anticipated new superhero movie, The Marvels, is coming to theaters later this year and Marvel released the trailer today. And of course, there is some heated debate going on over in the world of social media.
So what do we know so far?
Let’s check it out.
Captain Marvel & More are Back in “The Marvels”
Brie Larson stars as the titular character, Captain Marvel. She first played the role in 2019’s standalone film, and now she’s back to join forces with Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Iman Vellani (Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel), Teyonah Parris (Monica Rambeau), and Zawe Ashton (character unknown but it’s suspected she may be the Kree general Ael-Dan).
The trailer doesn’t reveal too much about the plot, but we already know from recent Marvel movies, WandaVision, and Ms. Marvel that this will likely be an epic battle of good versus evil. The action-packed two-minute clip shows us snippets of what’s in store: the ladies suddenly switching places unexpectedly several times, some high-stakes fights, explosions (of course), and epic special effects.
The Reviews are Mixed
“The Marvels” trailer has sparked a lot of heated debate among fans, with many praising the amazing visuals while others think that it looks like a typical Marvel movie. Here are some of the reactions to the trailer. Some of the ones I caught were:
“This is going to be a great movie! I can’t wait to see it!”
“The action looks amazing. The special effects look really cool.”
“It’s just another Marvel movie. Nothing new or interesting here.”
“I’m not sure if this is going to be any better than the other superhero movies out there.”
And unfortunately, there are a whole bunch of complaints about it being “woke” but I’m not going to get into that stuff.
Anyway, as a certified Geek, I’ll be there and I’m willing to bet that I enjoy it.
