Samsung Might Stick to Plastic Design With the Galaxy S4

Galaxy S4 Rumors

We have heard a lot of rumors and reports about the highly anticipated phone in the Android world – That’s none other than the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S4. However, all the details regarding the design, specs and software still remain an unsolved mystery but we did see a couple of leaked specs and designs recently (Not sure if authentic though). Rumors like these should be taken with a grain of salt.

Most Successful Android phones

The Galaxy S line-up has been the most successful series of Android phones to date, with the Galaxy S3 being the top-selling Android phone. Although, there’s still one complaint from many android fans regarding the Galaxy S3’s design – that’s the plastic feel of the device. Samsung seems to love plastic more than any other material as they’ve been using it since the launch of the first, Galaxy S. But will Samsung finally ditch plastic with the Galaxy S4 for good? Lets hope it does.

Galaxy S4 plastic body; Good thing or bad?

So, there are hundreds of rumors circulating the world wide web regarding the Galaxy S4. We have also seen the ceramic finish that has been around long before the launch of Galaxy S3 and aluminum body has also been mentioned a little bit but the recently leaked (and most authentic looking) renders of the Galaxy S4 show that the device will sport the usual plastic body as we have seen on previous Samsung phones – that’s a let down.

As we have recently seen most companies making the switch to a much durable design. The recently released HTC One is a unique phone with a magnificent Aluminum body and the iPhone 5 is wrapped in aluminum too. So, that makes us wonder what Samsung actually has planned for its flagship device. Even though Samsung’s plastic are nowhere near cheap or less-durable but some people just don’t like the plastic feel in their hands and want a premium feel for the amount of money they’ve paid.

According to reports from CNET, Samsung might once again use plastic and stick to the same plan as usual -If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Galaxy S3 was a huge success, so there seems no point in changing. The Galaxy S4 will be more about the software rather than focusing on hardware. Samsung is determined to sell 100 million units of the Galaxy S4, so that could prove to be a big challenge, if they once again stick to the plastic body. Samsung’s VP of Mobile, Y.H.Lee, had the following to say in regards of customers looking for a more premium and durable product.

“I think the next product has a nice balance between this, We listen to the market and try to accommodate.”

We don’t know much about the device yet but what we know so far is that the Galaxy S4 will sport a 4.99” 1080p Full HD Display powered by an Octa-Core (8-Core) processor – that will definitely be amazing and a battery hog at the same time. That’s all we could tell you right now, so wait for some more leaks or the Galaxy Unpacked Event on 14th March in NYC. We will be bringing you all the juicy details and pics from the event. Samsung products are made of plastic, but they do feel well built. At least the S III feels very well built. I don’t have a problem with the plastic so far.
