Keeping the latest rumors in mind, it’s still not clear whether the X Phone will be announced at Google I/O or not. Originally it was rumored that Google will be introducing the next-gen Nexus tablet and phone, along with announcing Motorola’s latest devices as well.

X Phone is Still a Mystery

We have no solid details about the X Phone yet,  but it is said to be part of a strategy to increase Motorola Mobility’s share in the Android smartphone market. It is also reported that the X Phone won’t be going head-to-head against high-end phones in terms of specs and hardware.  Instead, the company will be more focused on satisfying their users and improving the consumer experience for its device.

The rumored specs, however, seem pretty competitive which include a 4.7″ full HD 1080p display – that will put the X Phone’s display right at top with Galaxy S4 and HTC One. The device also lacks support for microSD card, and it was shown running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS; pretty close to stock Android with some minor Motorola alterations.

It is said that the X Phone is the last device in Motorola Mobility’s pipeline before it was acquired by Google. So, it is believed that Google’s participation in the development of X Phone is very little.

Even though Motorola was one of the early adopters of Android, and its original Droid slider on Verizon was a success, the company hasn’t been able to maintain its hold in the Android market. Hopefully, X Phone will put the company back in the game.
