Lionhead Studios, creator of the Fable video game series, has made an announcement that they are “not just a fable studio.” They have also come out to say they are working on a new game that has nothing to do with Fable, and fans are clamoring for information, to no avail. While they have yet to announce any details about the game but have made it very clear to everyone that it will not be “Fable-esque.”
In an interview with Eurogamer, Lionhead Studio Boss John Needman and Stuart Whyte, studio director, have suggested that Lionhead was “primarily” the Fable Studio, but that “we’re working on other games too.” Whyte stated, “Judging by where we are at the moment we’ve had a lot of Fable games in recent times, but I wouldn’t say that we’re just Fable. I can’t really say any more at this point!” So secretive, yet so intriguing!
Since 2004, Lionhead has developed multiple Fable games, sequels, and spin-offs. The popularity of the game has skyrocketed. However, ever since the release of the strategy game Black & White, Lionhead has not developed a non-Fable inspired game. With this “news,” fans were kind of hoping for a little more detail about what kind of new game might be in the works. I guess we will just have to wait and see, because Lionhead is keeping mum on the whole project.
So now we know Lionhead will be developing games outside of the Fable region, but in early February their next body of work, Fable Anniversary, will be launching for the Xbox 360. The developer is also working on Fable Legends for Xbox One. We will certainly keep our eyes peeled and keep everyone posted on any new information that is released about this unannounced game that is supposedly coming from Lionhead.
