Out of Space? Here’s How to Free Up More on Mac & PC

With the surge of digital content, from movies to pictures and music, our hard drives often fill up faster than we think. Fortunately, there are some easy steps you can take to free up more space and keep your computer running smoothly. Check it out-

Free Up Hard Drive Space on Mac

1. Check your hard drive usage: Go to the Apple Menu and select About This Mac, then click Storage. You’ll be able to see how much space you have free and which files are taking up the most room.

2. Delete unnecessary files: Go through your File Manager or Finder and delete any files you don’t need. This could include old documents, downloads, movies, music, photos, and any other large files that are taking up space.

3. Uninstall apps: If you haven’t used an app in a while or it’s taking up too much space, you can delete it from your computer. Go to the Applications folder and then select an app you want to uninstall. Right click (or control click) and select Move to Trash.

4. Empty the Trash: Once all of the files have been deleted, empty the trash bin by right clicking on the trash icon in your Dock or Finder window and selecting Empty Trash. This will permanently delete the files from your computer.

5. Use a cloud service: If you want to keep all of your music, photos, documents and more but don’t have enough space on your Mac, you can use a cloud storage service like Google Drive or Dropbox to store them online instead.

To Get More Space on PC

1. Check your hard drive usage: Open the File Explorer and select This PC. Right-click on the hard drive you want to check, then select Properties. You’ll be able to see how much space you have free and which files are taking up the most room.

2. Delete unnecessary files: Go through your File Manager or Windows Explorer and delete any files you don’t need. This could include old documents, downloads, movies, music, photos, and any other large files that are taking up space.

3. Uninstall apps: If you haven’t used an app in a while or it’s taking up too much space, you can delete it from your computer. Go to the Control Panel, then select an app you want to uninstall. Right click and select Uninstall.

4. Clean up temporary files: Temporary files are often taking up a lot of space without us even knowing it. To delete these files, open the Run window (by pressing Windows + R) and type %temp%. Select all of the temporary files and delete them by pressing Delete on your keyboard or by right clicking and selecting Delete from the menu.

5. Use a cloud service: If you want to keep all of your music, photos, documents and more but don’t have enough space on your PC, you can use a cloud storage service like Google Drive or Dropbox to store them online instead.
