As society looks for sustainable, environmentally-friendly sources of energy, newer companies have been responsible for creating innovative solutions in portable solar energy. While some of the largest and most popular energy companies such as ExxonMobil have begun investing in lower-emission technologies and energy solutions, people should not underestimate the power of a tech startup that has built solar energy solutions from the ground up. This is the space that startups and brands such as Jackery are occupying in the market today.

Jackery has become a household name for outdoor enthusiasts and people who prefer the off-the-grid lifestyle because of its collection of portable solar generators that have been sold at popular home improvement retailers such as Home Depot. Founded in California in 2012, Jackery is a leading provider of innovative solar generator and sustainable power solutions, driven by its mission to provide “Sustainable power for your life.”  Jackery’s clean energy products have been a labor of love for the company’s R&D team. The team’s efforts have led to awards such as the German Red Dot and iF Design Awards for its Explorer series of portable power stations.

The Explorer series has served as some of the company’s flagship products, as it is not uncommon to see the Explorer 3000 Pro next to other household solar energy products at Home Depot. Despite its small size, the Explorer 3000 Pro packs a punch, as it carries a power output of 3,000 watts, which is sufficient to charge an entire mobile home. The portable power station has the capability to power household appliances with high power demands, such as refrigerators, microwaves, and even televisions. With 10 output ports, customers using this power station have enough power to live an entire week away from modern society. All it takes to charge it is a few days under the sun or a few hours connected to an electric port.

Despite the popularity of products such as the Explorer 3000 Pro, Jackery is not content to rest on its laurels and has continually developed new clean energy products, including the suite of new offerings they recently unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025. The company’s newest products include solar roof tiles that enhance a house’s architectural profile while also offering compatibility with over 90% of mounting systems. Other innovations displayed at the event include the SolarSaga 100 Prime, a high-efficiency solar panel for motor homes and yachts, which is designed to fulfill its mission, even in the most adverse weather conditions. At CES 2025, Jackery also unveiled the next evolution of its Explorer series, the Explorer 5000 Plus. This new model starts with a base capacity of 5kWh that can scale up to 60kWh after adding additional battery packs and 7,200 watts of output power.

As Jackery continues to expand in the number of products that it produces, it remains a part of the expanding market of portable solar power. By making the most of research and development, the company has developed products that appeal to customers with an interest in outdoor activities, emergency preparedness, and off-grid living. As renewable energy increases, businesses such as Jackery will continue making it easier for customers to obtain solar energy options, ushering in a potential clean energy age that both enriches people's daily lives and takes care of the planet.
