Geek Sleep with GhostPillow

Comfort and luxury in a “faux down” GhostPillow.

I have to admit that I’ve never been fond of genuine down pillows because I happen to be one of the few that’s been stabbed in the head with the pointed end of a feather while trying to get some sleep. Somehow, it always managed to poke a hole through the pillow and its case that was just big enough for a jab.

Give me a soft polyester batten-filled pillow to lay my head on and hold the feathers, please. That’s been my thinking for decades. DECADES! Until down alternative pillow by GhostBed came into my life. It might not be life-changing but it sure has changed sleep for me – forever. I am not exaggerating.

About GhostBed and the Werner Family

Five generations of the Werner family have dedicated their life to innovation and invention. You may have heard of the Werner Ladder Company? That’s over 100 years of business acumen. Then in 2001, CEO Mark Werner applied the family’s philosophy into launching GhostBed.

From Ladders to Beds and Pillows?

Sometimes innovation is bred from necessity. After several neck surgeries and dealing with chronic pain, Mark Werner needed to find a comfortable mattress and pillow to support him and allow for a good night’s sleep. In deciding to make his own, he launched “Nature’s Sleep.”

From 2010 on, he decided that those 10-second sleep tests were not adequate enough for people to make an informed decision about their bed or pillows. That’s when Werner decided to take out the middleman and showroom floor to deliver his mattress and pillows directly to the consumer. In March, 2015 he made that a reality by offering the GhostBed mattress in a box.

In 2016, he launched GhostPillow, and the innovation and improvement to sleep continued with an adjustable bed frame, and better mattress designs that include a hybrid mattress that combines coils and foam.

The GhostPillow was delivered in a sturdy box and I was surprised by it’s comforting weight. With Werner innovation, they’ve managed to create a microfiber gel fill that makes this down alternative pillow squeezable and very soft. As a side sleeper, I’m constantly stealing my husband’s pillows to find the most comfortable position for my neck, shoulder and back. On the first night, my head sank into my GhostPillow and I was asleep almost immediately. Husband got to test it on Day 2 but he’s simply going to have to get his own. This one is MINE.

Lady Geek Meredith

According to my husband, I barely moved (which is rare) – and even better, when I woke up, I was rested with no back or neck pain at all. Normally, my regular pillows get hot so I have to flip them over to get the cool side and go back to sleep. I literally hug the GhostPillow and I’m out. The inner covering is made of 100% natural cotton and the outer zippered cover is very soft.

I had misgivings about the embroidered logo on the outer cover. Admittedly, I thought it was a temporary zipper cover but the quality is very good and I’m not bothered by it at all. In fact, it feels like a heavier, sturdy material despite the softness and I have not felt overheated because of it. Of course, this might change when the Florida weather gets hot and muggy.

When you visit their website, you’ll see the GhostPillow Faux Down is naturally hypoallergenic and designed to be dust mite-free. The price is comparable to other high-end pillows and they offer an amazing 101-Night Sleep Trial with no-hassle returns if you are unhappy with your pillow. It’s also got a 5-year limited warranty, which is nearly unheard of in the mattress and bedding industry. GhostPillow offers free shipping and orders are usually sent out within 24 hours.

If I was going to rate the GhostPillow Faux Down, I’d give it a 10 out of 10 on the Geek Scale for improved sleep and comfortability. I never thought a pillow would make a difference. Boy, was I wrong! Geek sleep has never been so good.

GhostBed products are proudly made in the U.S.A. and they are located in Plantation, Florida. I’m half tempted to visit them for a Geek Speak if I’m ever in South Florida.
