Future Technology We Wish We Had Right Now

Although commercial drone certification isn’t scheduled to begin until 2020, Google and Amazon have begun work on the new technology in preparation. Imagine ordering a book or some groceries online and receiving that item via air drop within the very next day. Um, what? Yes please. Amazon has already stepped up their game in so many ways. With Amazon Prime and all of the thousands of sellers available, you can do almost anything through this mega-company. Drones like these are just the next step.

There is also the possibility of these drones turning on us and running a rebellion artificial intelligence style. But, we can worry about that when the time comes.

We still have to wait quite a while for these high tech gadgets, unfortunately. But, the possibility of technology like this existing got me thinking. What if in the near future we had drones for all types of occasions? What if so many of the everyday hassles and issues could be solved with the science and magic of technology.

Hair Control

How amazing would it be to never have to leave the comfort of home for a hair cut? You would be able to bypass the 30 minute wait, coughing children in  the waiting room, and either awkward silence or uncomfortable conversation with the stylist. You wake up, stick your head into the machine and decide in an instant what you want. Chop it off, straighten, curl, shave bald, dye pink, etc.

And what if there was a mini version for the rest of your body hair? No more 10 minute leg shaving, ladies. I’m not sure how this would work exactly, but I’m just a writer. Let’s leave the technology to the scientists.

Teleportation

We have planes, trains, and automobiles , sure. But, won’t it just be amazing when the opportunity to step into a tube or on a platform for transportation is available? No more dealing with the inflation of gas prices and accidents on the highway. Maybe we could bypass the flying cars from The Jetsons altogether and go this route.

Food Rehydrating

Kids

For those who either grew up on the Spy Kids films, or maybe had children who viewed them, we have been obsessed with the rehydrator Carmen used to instantly prepare her McDonalds burger and fries. If only such a thing existed, and could float around the house so you don’t have to get up from your couch. Sounds like the ultimate Homer Simpson fantasy, as well as a possibility for  feeding the hungry people in the world. It’s a win-win situation, really. Now, who do I need to talk to about getting this started?

Closet Drone

Imagine those Monday mornings when the last thing you want to do is get out of bed and into your work clothes. You’re droggy and laggy and have no energy or patience for picking out an ensemble. But what if you could simply step out of the shower and into the perfect techie closet. With quick buttons and a voice search, this imaginary drone could be a dream come true for both the fashionistas and couch potatoes alike.

Virtual Reality

This may not solve world hunger, but virtual reality robots would be pretty amazing anyway. Like a gaming console, but more portable and completely customized to the user. There is a strong possibility that if something like this did come around, most of our social lives would cease to exist. But, maybe by then we will have a solution for that. Just imagining the storytelling and adventure of video games transformed into a virtual reality experience is very exciting. Your favorite game or movie, but in with real world feel. Magic. Or, science?
