Batman Arkham Knight PC Pre-Order Digital is $20 Cheaper vs Physical

A pricing mistake, or a huge split between the PC physical and Digital copy price tag showed up today for the Batman: Arkham Knight preorder. While GameStop and others are charging $59.99 for a PC physical copy, the UK based digital retailer Green Man Gaming has a digital copy (Steam Key only) priced at $49.99. Better still, GMG has a near site-wide coupon code dropping the price 20% in both North America and Europe.

Earlier this week Amazon, Best Buy, and GameStop all posted the Arkham Knight preorder up for an understandable $59.99 for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC. It’s not unheard of to see the console price $10 more than the PC, but you never see PC Physical copy sell for less than the digital download (at least the list price is the same). At $59.99, the physical copy is a full $20 more than Green Man Gaming’s discount.

This could mean GMG has made a mistake in pricing, and after the 20% coupon the deal seems almost too good to be true… or it could be break between the physical and digital only copies.

You’d think to settle the issue once and for all, you’d only have to check the price at Steam. While Steam has a placeholder page up with a trailer, the game is not available for preorder yet and no list price is to be found. The mystery continues.

Batman Arkham Knight will release in the fall of this year, October 14th. It’s still a long ways off, but if the list price at GMG is reset to $59.99, it’s unlikely we’ll see another preorder deal as low as $40 from a reputable retailer.
