E3 2014 Recap: Microsoft/Xbox

Miss the Xbox One Media briefing?  Here’s a full list of everything that went down.

The day started off with developers arriving on the “Green Carpet” featuring host Major Nelson (Larry Hryb)

A few developers were nabbed, but none could share any information until the presentation

The new achievement feature was highlighted, as players will now be able to view achievements in snap.  This is a new way to sort, track and get help for achievements in while playing the game.

Then the insomniac team stole the show when they looked like this:

Onto the Press Conference

Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox opened up the show.

This lead into gameplay demo of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, created by Sledgehammer Studios and launhcing on November 11th

Next, Dan Greenwawalt from Turn Ten Studios announced that the infamous Nürburgring is available to download starting today, for free, on Forza 5

Right on his heels, Ralph Fulton came on to show a video for Forza Horizons 2, releasing in the fall

Turtle Rock Studios came on to talk about “Evolve”, which will have a beta and dlc first come to Xbox One.

Vincent Pontbriand came on to show gameplay of Assassin’s Creed: Unity, showing off it’s impressive four player Co-op.

Dragon Age: Inquisition, from Bioware, made an appearance, announcing an October 7th release and content coming to Xbox One first.

Behind that came in Ted Price, Found and CEO of Insomniac games, showing that Sunset Overdrive’s gameplay wouldn’t be outdone by the studio’s costumes and ride. The game will feature eight player co-op and will hit shelves October 28th.

Available today is Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition Exp Plus Alpha DLC (best title ever).  This of course is made by Capcom and has four player co-op.

Alex Rigopulos from Harmonix came on to support Disney’s Fantasia: Music Evolved, coming out later this year.  He also announced Dance Central Spotlight coming in September exclusively to Xbox One.

Next up was Lionhead’s David Eckelberry, bringing with him Fable Legends.  Supported by a gameplay video, he announced that a player could be the villain, controlling the map and enemies in a Dungeon Master style.

Project Spark came in hot, showing everyone how the players could make their own games to share and play with friends.  Project Spark will be released for PC and Xbox One later this year.

Additionally, they announced that Conker would be a playable character in the game.

A new Xbox One exclusive, Ori and the Blind Forest was shown off in video form.

No Xbox E3 would be complete without a Halo announcement and this year was no exception.  Bonnie Ross, the studio head of 343, came out to talk about the past and present story of Halo.  With this, she announced Halo: The Master Chief Collection coming to Xbox One on November 11th.  The collection would contain Halo CE, 2, 3 and 4.

Dan Ayoub  then came out to remind us that November 11th marked the anniversary of Halo 2.  After noting this, he announced that Halo 2 Anniversary would be coming with the master chief collection.  Stating  that multiplayer would be exactly the same as it was when it released, he backed up his claim by showing off live gameplay.

Finally it was announced that with the collection, players could access the Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer beta, coming out in December.

Phil Spencer then came back on to show games coming in 2015, starting with Inside by Playdead, coming first to Xbox One.

Next Chris Charla, from ID@Xbox came on showing a montage video of all the new independent games.  The video featured: Aztez, Another World, Fenix Rage, Castle Storm, Chariot, Forced, FRU, Get Even, Guaacamelee Super Turbo CE, Threes!, White Night, Woolfe, Roundabout, Source, #IDARB, The Golf Club, There Came an Echo, Hellraid, Nero, Never Alone, Hyper Light, Drifter, Pure Pool, Kick Beat SE, Lifeless Planet, Cuphead, Wulverbladde, Spectra-8 bit racing, Knight Squad, Mighty No. 9, Plague Inc. and Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime.

Following the independent games news, Rise of the Tomb Raider was announced in video form.

John Mamais and Konrad Tomaszkiewicz hit the stage showing off new gameplay for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Killer Instinct’s Ken Lobb came on to announce the remastered version of the cult classic Phantom Dust as an Xbox One exclusive.

Ryan Barnard stepped up next, bringing live gameplay of Tom Clancy’s: The Division, stating that new content would come to Xbox One first.

Hideki Kamiya of Platinum Games Inc. came on stage to announce the new Xbox One exclusive: Scalebound.

Last but not least, David Jones came on to show the world premiere video for Crackdown, an Xbox One Exclusive.

Woah, tons of new stuff and cool games on display by Microsoft for Xbox One.  However, Sony and Nintendo will have their turns next, so we’ll keep you posted on how they do as well.
