Founder Finds Purpose in Repurposing

Boyd started making candles in 2015 as a weekend project to salvage a cabinet full of half-burned candles. However, that passion for repurposing old materials and her desire to reduce waste as much as possible transformed this weekend hobby into a full-blown mission. 

“I wanted to make a better candle.”

After over a year of researching and 100 test trials later, she not only created candles that fill the room with their aroma, unlike the majority of candles on the market today, they burn cleanly and evenly down to the last drop of wax.

“My passion for repurposing old materials is what sparked this labor of love, and it’s the reason I chose to use pure copper and natural wood containers as my candle vessel,” said Boyd. “I hope that it might inspire others to reduce waste and repurpose the vessel after the candle burns.”

Once the candles have melted away, simply freeze the vessel overnight and lightly chip away any small leftover wax remnants. Then, just lightly wash it with a bit of dish soap and hot water, and you’ll have a great-looking container that can be reused in any number of ways.
