Reviews.org Releases 2021 eSports Report

Chances are, you’re part of the 76% of Americans who play video games, and have codes like Up-Up-Down-Down-Left-Right-Left-Right-B-A ingrained in your memory. I’m also willing to bet you’re one of the 70% of gamers who watch video game content such as game tutorials, livestreams, and eSports tournaments. 

And you’re not alone. In fact, 40% (2 in 5) Americans report that they watched an eSports tournament in the last year and 26% say they’re more interested in eSports than traditional sports.

Additional Findings:

Despite a 56% decline in tournament payouts during 2020, the eSports industry as a whole is on the rise. 

In 2020, US players took home the gold. The US led the pack with $20 million in tournament payouts and over 4,000 players. 

While the top-earning players from 2016-2019 topped the leaderboards in Dota 2 for their prize earnings, 2020 threw a curveball with the highest-earning player of the year being a Chess24 champion. ♟️
