The Top Six Tech Innovations to Come out of the IDTechEX Show
Each year the IDTechEX Show plays host to the most innovative developments in technology from around the world. Showcasing the latest advancements in the printed, wearable and sensory sectors, the exhibition is a platform for demonstrating the future of all things tech.
Here are six of the best pieces of technology from the IDTechEX Show 2015 to watch out for:
The Blade
Hailed as “the world’s first 3D printed super car” the Blade has been created by Divergent Microfactories. The Californian company created the car using nodes, made by melting aluminium powder into form using a laser based printing system. It can go from 0-60mph in 2.5 seconds and it takes less than 30 minutes to assemble the chassis by hand. Read more about the Blade here.
Conformable LCD Displays
FlexEnable, a leading provider of flexible electronics technology showcased their new organic liquid crystal display (OLCD) at the exhibition. These flexible colour displays are glass free and can be used in mobile, wearable and automotive technologies – a definitive sign that the future of tech is flexible.
Bebop Sensors
Smart fabric company BeBop demonstrated their latest sensor designs at the IDTechEX show this year. Using Monolithic Fabric Sensor Technology, these fabric sensors measure physicality and produce 3D maps of pressure, angle, rotation and bend. This technology has a number of practical uses for the medical, wearable and sports markets. Read more in this press release.
Printed Circuit Boards
Another development in 3D printing technology, NanoDimension displayed their DragonFly 2020 3D printer – capable of producing working multi-layer printed circuit boards using specialty conductive inks. This desktop-sized printer provides users with design flexibility, and allows them to create prototypes in hours instead of weeks. Read more here.
Orion Lamp
This innovative solar lamp design won the Best Product Development Award at this year’s IDTechEX Show. Developed by ARMOS SAS as part of the Beautiful Light Project, the lamp includes an organic photovoltaics module (OPV) for charging integrated into the lamp itself rather than a separate attachment like most other products. The OPV can be easily rolled and unrolled for charging and transportation and can produce up to 8W of power.
Mimo Smart Baby Monitor
This is a baby monitor like no other. Combining comfort with the latest in non-contact sensor technology, this baby monitor from Mimo provides real-time movement, breathing data, body position and sleeping temperature and can be worn on the baby’s clothing or laid underneath them. The sensors also link up to your smart phone to ensure parents can rest easy knowing their little ones are sleeping soundly.
