HallowCon 2020 Goes Virtual

Hey everyone, this is Joe McKeel, otherwise known to the world at large as JoeDog from the HallowCon Literary Society. We’ll just call it “HallowCon” for short. Makes things easier on all of us.  As the Chairman of this event since 2016 and an integral part of this convention since 2006, our group has made many amazing changes since 2002 – and 2020 will be no different.

Because of the current “climate” and upon meeting with the hotel staff in Dalton, Georgia, we came to an amicable agreement that is it neither safe nor wise to have a physical, in-person event.

HallowCon 2020

HallowCon 2020 is pivoting to the weird and wild world of Cyberspace and we’re offering a FREE event. Some may say we’ve lost our mind during the pandemic, but you, the HallowCon FAN, will reap the rewards.

Everyone who holds a badge or vendor space will roll over into 2021. Reserved rooms have been canceled for 2020 and will need to be reserved for the 2021 event. Dates for next year’s convention are October 29 through October 31, 2021.

As the Chairman, I’ve been dabbling in multi-person video chat applications since major cities, events and gatherings have been shut down. I have created and hosted such video shows as “Stupid O’clock”, “The Stupid O’clock After-Show”, and “Armchair Rocket Science.” In these past 7 months or so, I’ve grown to love and embrace the challenges and the successes of these unique virtual platforms. With the knowledge gained by my staff and I, we are confident that we will be able to provide an entertaining platform during the Halloween 2020 weekend.

HallowCon – VISIONS OF FEAR

From October 30th through November 1st, HallowCon – Visions of Fear will be presented to you VIRTUALLY. We will attempt, for the very first time, more than 48 hours of non-stop programming. From live and interactive panels, to workshops, to some of the best of the worst public domain horror films, we promise to take you along for the insanity all weekend long.

VENDORS, DEALERS & ARTISTS!

In the coming days we will launch a specific set of notices and instructions for each and every one of you. This will be a once in a lifetime event that will spark both opportunities and creativity for you and your business.

PANELISTS AND ENTERTAINERS, the same goes for you. There will be a sign-up process for panels, workshops, theater productions, and so much more. We need you more than ever during these difficult and unique times!

If you are new to HallowCon as a convention, thank you for hanging around for the upcoming virtual event. And, for all of you who are long time members of the HallowCon family, thank you for everything you have said and done to encourage us to keep. You mean the world to us.
